CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Channel 9 sat down with well-known real estate mogul Donald Trump - and got his thoughts on the new U.S. Airways merger.

Trump has already bought a golf club near Mooresville.

In an interview with Eyewitness News anchor Blair Miller on Saturday morning, he said he now has more at stake -- with such a big deal that could have a big impact on Charlotte's economy.

"Frankly, being someone invested very heavily on Charlotte, I hope it doesn't affect negatively Charlotte," Trump said.

Trump said he expects the merger to create less competition which will send ticket prices up and service down.

US Airways and American announced their merger Thursday. US Airways has its largest hub in Charlotte.

Eyewitness News also talked with Trump about future investments in Charlotte.

In a more in-depth report on Monday starting at 5, Trump talks about buying more property in the Queen City and his future plans for a presidential run.
