Driver cited after crashing into ambulance carrying patient

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

An ambulance with its lights and siren on collided with a car early Thursday morning in Westmoreland County.

Police said the accident happened about 12:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 780 in Washington Township.

Investigators said the driver failed to stop for the ambulance, which was carrying a patient.

The patient was then taken to a hospital in another ambulance, and the driver of the car was cited.
