MCKEESPORT, Pa. —

McKeesport police said a driver who led police on a chase escaped after ditching his car and running away on foot.

Investigators said the chase began around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on Versailles Avenue.

As the officer was approaching the car, police said, the driver took off.

About 15 blocks away from the initial traffic stop, police said they caught up with the driver and again tried to stop him between Federal and Butler streets.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, slid and then got out of the car and took off running.

So far, no arrests have been made.

One officer was hurt while attempting to get out of his car, but police said he did not have any interaction with the man who was running from officers.
