Police said a driver hit a 68-year-old man in Squirrel Hill Tuesday morning then took off.
Investigators said the incident happened near the intersection of Wilkins Avenue and Wightman Street about 9:30 a.m. Investigators said the victim was attempting to cross the street when he was hit.
When officers arrived on the scene, medics and firefighters were stabilizing the victim, who was then transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses told police that a red or maroon-colored vehicle struck the victim, and then sped away on Wightman Street toward Fair Oaks.
No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.
