Authorities in Washington County are investigating after a family contacted police and said a bullet from a nearby shooting range hit their swimming pool.
According to detectives, police received the report from Kerry Rectenwald’s family, who lives about 600 yards from the Dormont Mount Lebanon Sportsman’s Club in Eighty Four.
The Rectenwalds claimed a bullet from the club went through their swimming pool while their daughter was playing on the back porch. No injuries were reported.
“Megan is 10 years old and she’s my only child. I wouldn’t want to lose her over something as silly as this,” Rectenwald said.
Rectenwald said she simply wants police to look into the problem.
“You can hear the guns going off. I don’t want them to close down, I want them to fix it so this doesn’t happen again,” Rectenwald said.
Rectenwald told Channel 11’s Cara Sapida that their property has been hit with bullets four times.
“Last year in August, in this same exact position, there was a bullet on the patio,” Rectenwald said.
The sportsman’s club hasn’t commented.
“If something is intentionally trying to shoot over barricades, it could be reckless endangerment. But if it’s just a ricochet, obviously there is no intent there,” North Strabane Police Det. John Wybranowski said.
