Police ID man killed in Route 22 crash in Armstrong County

PLUM CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. --  Route 422 is back open following a fatal crash in Plum Creek Township on Friday.

The two-vehicle crash happened at about 10 a.m. near Muskrat Slide Road, authorities said.

Lee Hunter Sturgeon, 25, of Indiana County, hit a guard rail and then crossed the center line, striking a tri-axle truck, police said.

The impact caused the tri-axle dump truck to flip, spilling its load of coal onto the roadway, police said.

Sturgeon, who was in a pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word on whether the other driver was injured.
