ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. —
A Beaver County man is assisting authorities in their efforts to eliminate the sale of synthetic marijuana in the area.
The father, who wants to keep his identity secret, told officers he caught his son with synthetic marijuana purchased from an Ellwood City tobacco shop.
The father then offered to work as an informant and make a controlled purchase from the store.
“I just drove to the police station and met with them. Then I made a controlled buy,” the man said. “In five minutes I saw about 10 kids go inside.”
Police then raided the shop Friday night and took synthetic marijuana, which is outlawed in Pennsylvania, as evidence.
Authorities said they’re testing the items the seized and are thankful for the man who alerted them.
“I don’t think they should have shops like that,” the man said.
He also added that his job isn’t done yet and he plans to target other stores selling the synthetic marijuana.
“My goal is to get it off the streets so the next generation of kids aren’t smoking it,” the man said. “That’s one down, but I have plenty more to go.”
