SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
A fire spread through a Uniontown bar late Monday night, shortly after the business closed.
Firefighters said when they arrived at the 19th Hole Bar in South Union Township, Fayette County just before midnight, flames were shooting from the building.
The fire was so intense, firefighters said, that they were unable to go inside to knock out some of the flames.
"Upon arrival we found that the left side of the structure was fully involved. About 10 minutes after we got here, the roof collapsed. We did do a small interior attack. But the building was a total loss. That's all we could do," said South Union Fire Department Chief Rick McCormick.
McCormick said there were no nearby hydrants so water had to be trucked in. Investigators said the fire was likely caused by an electrical problem.
No injuries were reported. The owners of the bar have not said if they will rebuild.
