Firefighters battled a serious blaze at a commercial building in Ross Township Friday afternoon that destroyed five businesses.
Authorities said the flames were reported just before 2 p.m. along Babcock Boulevard at Studio Raw, a hair salon inside the building.
“A guy came running in the building and told us the roof was on fire. So we went outside thinking someone was playing a prank on us,” Studio Raw employee Dan Burda said. “But I guess this is a little worse than a prank.”
Everyone inside the building was able to make it out safely, officials said. The five businesses inside the building were Studio Raw Hair Salon, Arbors Management, Stantucci Insurance Company, a bankruptcy firm and a massage center.
According to police, the flames were so intense the entire building was completely destroyed.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Fire officials said they plan on returning to the scene Monday to continue their investigation.
Studio Raw placed several signs outside the building promising to rebuild their business. The salon’s website said they will open a temporary salon at the old Suerve Salon.
