A former high school basketball star is facing charges after police said he threatened to use a gun at a Beaver County bar.
Former Aliquippa star Herb Pope told police that he carries a gun for protection after being shot in 2007.
Investigators said they were doing surveillance on Merchant Street late Monday night when Pope was seen running down a nearby alleyway.
Officers said Pope went to the Colonial Grill in Ambridge with three other people. The owner said when their identifications were scanned and the group was asked to leave, Pope showed them his semi-automatic handgun.
Police said Pope has a permit for the gun. He's facing simple assault and public drunkenness charges.
