HEMPFIELD, Pa. —
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The former director of the Hempfield Township Recreation Department was charged Thursday with stealing $21,000 from the township.
Police said Dean Minerva stole more than $17,000 from the concession stand at the Hempfield Recreation Center and more than $4,000 in ball-field and pavilion fees that were paid in cash.
Investigators said the money was stolen between January 2009 and September 2011.
Minerva resigned from his position after his boss found receipts for sales from which the money was missing.
