Former high school quarterback back charged in connection with fatal after-hour club shooting

MCKEESPORT, Pa. —

A former standout high school quarterback was one of two men arrested in connection with a fatal shooting outside an after-hour club early Sunday morning in Mckeesport.

Police said gun shots fired at a parking lot right outside the Sportsman's Club, or Pav's Tavern, behind the Route 148 Carwash killed Tameko Wall, 37, around 3 a.m.

Moments after the shooting, authorities said witnesses were able to point out suspect, 23-year-old Vondre Griffin.

WPXI reporter Brandon Hudson reported Griffin played for Woodland Hills in 2006 and was recruited to play football for Kent State.

The family of the victim told Hudson Tameko was a loveable man who loved his son.

Authorities said Tameko was taken to the hospital and later died from the gunshot wounds.

Griffin is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
