INDIANA, Pa. (AP) -- Authorities allege an Indiana County woman was killed by a lethal dose of methadone just hours before she was to be released from a hospital for an undisclosed illness.
State police said Aaron Sandak, 36, was taken into custody Thursday in Ocean City, Md. on charges including involuntary manslaughter in the death of Megan Prugh, 29.
Prugh died at Indiana Regional Medical Center on Aug. 26. Authorities said she was awaiting discharge at the time of her death.
Investigators said tests show Prugh received an unexpected dose of methadone before she died. The synthetic opioid was not among the medications she was receiving at the hospital.
Sandak is awaiting transfer to Pennsylvania. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
