Indiana County woman set fire to man over bad cocaine, police say

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) —

An Indiana County woman is jailed on charges she helped kidnap and tried to kill a man because he directed her to a drug dealer who sold her cocaine that wouldn't cook properly.

Authorities said Marlena Jones, 34, was charged by state police with attempted homicide and other crimes in the Monday night incident. That's when 19-year-old Thomas Pierce III, of Farrell, was bound with duct tape, stripped, then forced into a plastic laundry container.

Police said Jones and another man, who is still at large, tried to kill Pierce in rural Indiana County.

Officials said a gun jammed when Jones tried to shoot Pierce, so the man lit Pierce on fire with lighter fluid.

Pierce put out the fire and ran for help.
