Man abandons girl, 6, on side of Washington Co. road after failed robbery attempt

CHARLEROI, Pa. —

A 6-year-old girl was left abandoned on the side of a Washington County road over the weekend after her mother’s plan to rob an area Walmart failed.

According to police, Crystal Ross, 28, of Charleroi, and Harvey Hall, a known felon in Washington County with an extensive criminal history, robbed a Walmart and tried to return the goods for money.

Authorities said Ross was trying to return about $127 worth of car parts when she was caught and admitted to conspiring to steal from Walmart.

When police arrested Ross, Hall fled the scene with Ross’s 6-year-old daughter in the car.

According to the criminal complaint, Hall drove about four miles away to Maple Avenue where he abandoned the car and 6-year-old girl.

Two people walking by the car found the girl crying on the sidewalk and alerted police.

Upon arrival, officers found a crack pipe in the car.

Detectives are still looking for Hall and said a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Officials said Ross will be charged by summons in the mail.
