HOUSTON, Pa. —

A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after state police said he hit his stepson with a baseball bat several times during a confrontation at their home.

According to the police report, Michael Maloy, of Houston, choked and struck Angela Maloy during a confrontation just before 2 a.m.

Angela Maloy’s 17-year-old son, wielding an aluminum baseball bat, tried to help his mother, but Michael Maloy was able to take the bat from him, investigators said.

The report said Michael Maloy then hit the boy at least four times with the bat causing several bruised and a possible concussion.

The boy was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital. His condition has not been released.

Neighbor Ada Zambelli told Channel 11’s Jodine Costanzo that her kids heard the commotion early Tuesday morning. She said they’re praying for the family.

“I’m sad because she didn’t deserve that,” Zambelli said. “I don’t know if it’s safe to pray for him to come home. They’ve had problems before.”

Michael Maloy is facing aggravated assault and simple assault charges. He was freed on $10,000 bond and faces a preliminary hearing March 21.
