Man accused of using counterfeit money at Ross Park Mall

PITTSBURGH —

According to a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday, a Cleveland man and his girlfriend drove to Ross Park Mall and attempted to pass $850 in counterfeit bills at Macy’s last month.

A grand jury indicted Mario Herring, 39, on three counterfeiting charges. Authorities said he was carrying a total of $1,120 in counterfeit $100, $50 and $20 bills when Ross police arrested him Jan. 12.

The grand jury also indicted his girlfriend, Senteria Nightengale, 40, on a charge of participating in a conspiracy because she drove Herring to the mall and waited outside.

Herring remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
