Police are looking for two men accused of brutally attacking a man sitting on the steps outside of his South Side home.
Xavier Evans told Channel 11’s Timyka Artist that he was attacked outside his 14th Street home early Saturday morning by two men.
Evans said he was smoking a cigarette on his front stoop when two strangers asked him a bizarre question.
“They asked me if I had any (expletives) in the house. I said no and kind of chuckled,” Evans said.
According to Evans, the men then turned around and attacked him.
“Even after I was kicked the first time, I was like, ‘What are you doing?’” Evans said. “While I was lying on the ground, they took $7 from my pocket and said, ‘He’s not worth it anymore, let’s go.’”
Evans needed 12 stitches in his face from trying to fight off the attackers.
“It just makes me very angry and sad,” Evans said. “I just thought they were being comical on their way home.”
Anyone with information on the attack is asked to contact police.
