Man claims self-defense in shooting death of McKees Rocks man

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. —

Allegheny County investigators will meet with the district attorney Tuesday to determine if charges should be filed in a deadly McKees Rocks shooting.

Chas Jackson was questioned by police Monday night after investigators found 21-year-old Kalief Gates dead in an apartment on Alexander Street.

Police said Gates was shot twice in the head and once in the chest.

Officers said Jackson claims that he shot Gates in self-defense after Gates broke into his home.

Investigators said Jackson does have a gun permit, but they don't know if the gun found in the apartment was registered to him.

Jackson was released from custody after hours of questioning late Monday night.
