Man dies after police chase, crashing into Cranberry store

CRANBERRY, Pa. —

A man shot and killed himself after he crashed into a store during a police chase early Saturday morning.

Police said the chase began when they tried pulling over a driver who was speeding on Route 228 around 3:15 a.m.

A man crashed into the Lane Bryant clothing store at the Cranberry Commons Shopping Center and then died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot while the car was still moving.

The store had extensive damage and a small fire began underneath the car but an officer who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was able to put out the flames.

Authorities have not yet released the man's identity.

The store remains closed and there's no word on when it will reopen.
