SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Police in North Strabane Township said a man staying at a local hotel prompted a SWAT situation early Monday morning.
Investigators said they were called to the Comfort Inn on Meadowlands Boulevard just before 5 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.
Police said when they arrived, they noticed that a room on the third floor had a broken window and a lamp from the room was outside of the room.
Responding officers said they could hear a man inside who, at one point, stated that someone “wanted to kill him.”
Several nearby police departments were then called in, including the Washington County CERT team.
Police said one hour later the man voluntarily came out of the room and was taken into custody.
Investigators said Raymond Chui, 31, of Tulsa, Okla., said he had ingested more than a prescribed dosage of medication.
Officers said Chui works in the Marcellus gas industry and had checked into the hotel Sunday night. He was taken to Washington Hospital. Police said charges are pending his release.
