A Pittsburgh man will spend 21 to 42 years in prison for killing one man and wounding a woman when he fired a gun into a crowd of people at a Father's Day picnic last year.
Rayshawn Edwards, 21, continued to protest his innocence even as he was sentenced Tuesday by Allegheny County Judge Anthony Mariani.
But the judge said in sentencing Edwards, "I don't accept your denial. I don't think a mistake was made here."
The judge convicted Edwards of third-degree homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after a three-day non-jury trial in March.
Prosecutors said Christopher Jones, 27, died and Christina Matthews, 49, was wounded -- and needed a hip replacement -- after being shot by Edwards.
