UNIONTOWN, Pa. —
A spokesperson for Fayette County Emergency Medical Services confirms to Channel 11 News that a man fatally shot himself Wednesday outside of the Pennsylvania State Police Uniontown station.
The shooting apparently occurred in the morning just outside of the station's front entrance, which authorities subsequently blocked.
According to Fayette County EMS, no troopers were injured.
A Channel 11 News crew spotted forensic detectives examining a nearby pickup. The Fayette County Coroner's Office was also called to the scene.
The man has not been officially identified, but authorities tell Channel 11 News that he was in his mid-60s and resided in Connellsville. He died from a single gunshot wound. It's being considered a suicide.
The man never got inside the barracks. He apparently parked his truck in the station's lot, exited the vehicle and shot himself right there. A trooper discovered his body Wednesday morning.
