Surveillance photos lead to arrest of man accused of stealing donation jar

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police in Finleyville said they arrested a man accused of stealing a donation jar from an area business.

Investigators said they charged Patrick Lee Hufnagel, 21, of Eighty Four, with theft by unlawful taking.

Officers said surveillance video captured Hufnagel taking a donation jar intended for the Children's Miracle Network from the Dairy Queen on Route 88 earlier this week.

According to police, Hufnagel took the jar out to his car and then came back inside the restaurant to pay for his food.

The jar contained about $60, police said.

Jim Olah, the owner of the Dairy Queen, said several Port Authority maintenance workers from the South Hills Junction collected $75 to replace the stolen money.
