Manager uses coffee pot to scare off armed Coraopolis store robbers

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. —

Police are hoping surveillance video will help catch two bold convenience store robbers who pistol-whipped an employee on June 13.

Investigators said the robbery happened around 10:40 p.m. at the Coraopolis Uni-Mart.

Surveillance video shows the men, dressed in hooded sweatshirts, casing the perimeter of the store. Police said moments later the pair goes inside.

The video shows one of the men jump over the counter toward a female clerk and the other pulls out a gun and points it at her.

Store manager Bill Eljallad said that's when he sprung into action and grabbed the first thing he could to fight back.

Using a coffee pot, Eljallad said he went after the men, chasing them out of the store. Before they ran away, Eljallad said he was hit in the head with a gun.

So far, no arrests have been made.
