Missing mentally handicapped Greensburg woman, 18, found safe

GREENSBURG, Pa. —

Police said a mentally handicapped 18-year-old from Greensburg who went missing almost a week ago was found alive and well on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said Alexandra Darya Cycyk was dropped off by her parents at a friend's house on Wednesday.

Police said the friend told them that she just met Cycyk the week before and they were hanging out at her home when she decided to go to bed. The friend said she woke up on Thursday and Cycyk was gone.

Cycyk was reported missing on Saturday and police asked for the public's help in locating her Tuesday morning.

Detectives credited the numerous tips and phone calls in helping to locate Cycyk.

Officials said several calls identifying a person who fit Cycyk’s description came in and reported that she was walking along Mt. Pleasant Road just south of Greensburg.

Authorities responded, identified Cycyk and transferred her to the state police barracks in Greensburg.

According to police, Cycyk told detectives that she met random people and stayed at their residences over the past few days.

She didn’t report any crimes against her and appeared in good physical condition.

Cycyk was then reunited with her mother.
