Mistrial declared in Aliquippa homicide case

BEAVER, Pa. —

The trial of an Aliquippa man accused of killing a man during a gun battle three days after Christmas in 2010 has been declared a mistrial.

Authorities said 21-year-old Dejuan Hill was one of two people who shot and killed  18-year-old Robert Hall Jr.

Police said Hall was a passenger in the other vehicle.

According to the Beaver County Times, defense attorney Stephen Colafella said a prosecution witness accidentally referred to a previous criminal conviction against Hill on Thursday.

The use of inadmissible evidence forced the judge to declare a mistrial.

Colafella said prosecutors have 120 days to retry the case.
