Interstate 70 west in Washington County reopened Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer carrying Mountain Dew jackknifed around 10:15 a.m.
According to police, the truck overturned near the West Alexander exit after rear-ending a parked truck meant to stop cars from hitting construction workers.
The impact of the crash caused Mountain Dew bottles to spill onto the roadway, and forced the door on the tractor-trailer open.
Westbound lanes of I-70 between the Taylorstown exit and West Virginia line were closed while crews worked to clear the scene of bottles and crates. Traffic was backed up for miles as it was diverted to Route 40.
Authorities said a few minor injuries were reported.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
