New concussion bill goes into effect for student athletes in Pa.

HARRISBURG, Pa. —

A new bill signed into law Sunday requires coaches to remove student athletes from games if they show signs of a concussion or traumatic brain injury.

Under the new law, students showing these signs will not be allowed to compete again until a physician or health care professional clears them in writing.

Thirty-one states already have similar laws.
