PITTSBURGH —

A North Side man was arrested after Pittsburgh narcotics detectives found a grow lab in his apartment above a day care center, city police spokeswoman Diane Richard said on Friday.

Darron Nolen, 23, was arrested on drug charges after detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday on his apartment above the “A Child Shall Lead” day care center on Perrysville Avenue. Richard said Nolen does not work in the ground-floor day care center.

No children were affected by the marijuana and the smell of the growing plants did not permeate either the center or neighboring child care facility, “Mamas Little Angels Learning Center,” Richard said.

Police found three large and three small marijuana plants, six bags of marijuana seeds and two pounds of marijuana inside the apartment, Richard said.
