People in a local neighborhood are asking PennDOT for peace and quiet.
Residents who live near Route 65 in Brighton Heights said work on the roadway is so loud, they are unable to get any sleep.
The work began a month ago, residents said.
Tina Beam said she and her neighbors have to listen to the sound of jackhammers and deal with bright lights shining into their homes.
“I’ve had to put earplugs in my ears,” Beam said. “Our house is lit up like it was the Fourth of July. When they first started it was only the weekends. Now it’s almost every night. They’re here until 4 a.m.”
PennDOT officials released a statement saying they try to limit the inconvenience to motorists by working at nights and on the weekends.
“PennDOT will look into minimizing the impact of construction on Route 65 on residents during the overnight hours,” the statement said.
The project is expected to last for about two more months.
