PITTSBURGH —

It could soon cost drivers more to park in Oakland.

Pittsburgh City Council is looking at a pilot program that would test so-called dynamic parking prices near Carnegie Mellon's campus.

The program would make more desired parking spots cost more for drivers to use.

New York City and Los Angeles use a similar system.

Drivers would pay $1 to $4 per hour depending on where they park and when.

The test program could begin on January 1.
