UNIONTOWN, Pa. —
Police in Uniontown are investigating after a 6-month-old baby was wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning.
Authorities said the baby was shot in the head about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Pershing Court.
"The call started out as an ambulance-for-a-child call. Upon arrival, we found the child had been shot," Uniontown police Capt. David Rutter said.
According to police, the baby, whose name has not been released, was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital.
“The child was struck in the head by a bullet. The child was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be a superficial wound,” Rutter said.
The incident remains under investigation, and police haven’t said how the baby was shot.
“Everything is still under investigation because it’s still fresh. We have more interviews to do, and we believe we will develop more information,” Rutter said.
