PITTSBURGH —

Police arrested a man Wednesday morning accused of committing burglaries and fleeing on his bicycle.

According to police, Leon Snodgrass, of Brookline, was arrested about 8 a.m. Wednesday trying to board a bus.

Authorities said Snodgrass is accused of breaking into an 82-year-old man’s Mt. Washington Cushman Street home about two weeks ago.

Jim Barr, who lives near the victim, said he’s glad the detectives launched an aggressive investigation.

“He hid out in his backyard and broke into his house. No one really knew what happened,” Barr said. “I thought it was really off, that there was a crime scene investigation unit that pulled up the next day. You usually don’t have that for just a burglary.”

Investigators said they believe Snodgrass, 60, is connected to other robberies in the area. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
