NEW CASTLE, Pa. —

Parents were concerned after police said a fifth-grade student brought an Airsoft pistol to school Thursday.

Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that the George Washington Intermediate student told someone at school about the gun, that person told a teacher and the teacher alerted police.

“A child alerted a teacher and that teacher brought the boy to the principal. We learned the gun was a pellet gun and it wasn’t loaded,” New Castle Police Chief Bob Salem said.

Parents said they’re upset because they found out about the incident from their kids.

“I’m afraid, I want to know what happened,” Wendy Quear said.

There’s no word if the 11-year-old student will face disciplinary action from the New Castle School District.
