PITTSBURGH —

Police in Windgap said they're investigating an attempted luring on Wednesday night.

According to investigators, a man approached a group of children on Suter Street and asked if they would like to go to a Halloween party.

Police said the three children didn’t know the man, so they walked away, and the suspect drove off toward Chartiers Avenue.

Officers said the man was described as white and between 50 and 75 years old. Investigators said he had gray hair and was driving a blue van.

“A blue van pulled up with an older white male inside and he asked the children if they wanted to go to a Halloween party or if they wanted him to drive,” Pittsburgh Police Cmdr. Scott Schubert said.

Parents like Lindsey Soto said they’ll be watching their children closely during trick-or-treating this weekend.

“Until she’s old enough where she doesn’t want to trick-or-treat, I’m still going with her,” Soto said. “She’s not going by herself.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Zone 6 detectives at 412-937-3051.
