SHADYSIDE, Pa. —
Police in Shadyside are looking for a man who broke into a home through a window and robbed a man at gunpoint.
Authorities said the robber climbed up a fire escape, removed an air-conditioning unit and sneaked into the house on South Aiken Avenue Wednesday morning.
According to police, Harrison Thompson came home while the man was hiding in a bathroom.
“I saw the gun before I saw him,” Thompson told Channel 11’s Cara Sapida. “I came home and I noticed my AC on the floor and I thought maybe the cat jumped up and knocked it off.”
Harrison said the man held him at gunpoint while he took several items, including a wallet.
“A guy came walking out of the bathroom with a gun and he put it against my head and threatened to kill me if I didn’t give him money,” Thompson said.
Thompson said he had just returned from the bank, but refused to let the robber take all of his money.
“I peeled off a couple of bills and threw them,” Thompson said.
Thompson said the man picked up $70 off the ground and said, “You call the cops, I’m going to come back here and kill you.”
No information about the robber has been released except that he was wearing a mask.
Anyone with information on the robbery or similar incidents is asked to contact police.
