PITTSBURGH —

Police in the northern part of Allegheny County are urging county officials to upgrade their 911 system.

According to Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE, the radio channel used by several police departments including Tarentum and Harrison was out for six days last month.

The departments were switched to an index channel, but officers said that didn’t provide the same level of service.

Police said they want the system upgraded before the problems happen again.
