President of Elizabeth Township commissioners accused of sending sexual, racist text messages

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Racy text messages are raising questions about the president of Elizabeth Township's board of commissioners.

Gene Francesconi is accused of sending sexual and racist text messages.

At a meeting on Tuesday, Commissioner Donald Similo introduced two motions. The first was to turn over the messages to the State Ethics Commission to be investigated.

The second motion was to talk about the messages publicly at the meeting, which did not pass.

A solicitor said the issue was a personnel matter and that the alleged texts were private communications on private cellphones.

Francesconi denies sending the messages.
