A lot of people are clicking and saving online during Cyber Monday, but the great online deals aren’t just on electronics.
Channel 11’s Gordon Loesch took a look at some of the most unexpected savings.
Michael Marne was looking for a deal from his Mount Pleasant home. He’s among a record 131 million Americans expected to shop online during Cyber Monday.
“Almost everything,” Marne replied when Loesch asked, “How much shopping do you do online?”
According to Comscore Internet Analytics, Monday could be the biggest online shopping day in history, with more than $2 billion in sales, up from the record $1.47 billion in 2012.
“I’m seeing really strong deals in three separate categories,” Trea Bodge, of RetailMeNot.com, said.
Bodge recommends buyers should focus on electronics, entertainment items like games and DVDs and clothing.
“If you have any clothing on your list, I would definitely take a look at Old Navy, Nordstrom and Ann Taylor. They’re all offering discounts in the 40 percent range,” Bodge said.
Bodge recommends comparing prices and discounts by checking websites, along with Amazon and eBay.
“eBay is not only an auction site, but they have new merchandise that is deeply discounted,” Bodge said.
If companies don’t have a successful Cyber Monday, look for them to offer discounts throughout the season.
Cyber Monday also has a major impact on shipping. FedEx officials said Monday is expected to be the busiest day in history with more than 22 million packages handled.
