RESERVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Residents reported a water main break along Mount Troy Road in Reserve Township around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Police said the problem was investigated but the water was not turned off immediately.
Neighbors said it was more than eight hours before crews came to stop the rushing water.
"I heard the water running. I came across the driveway and water was pouring out," said Troy Hill resident, Marilyn Sieber.
Channel 11’s Jodine Costanzo talked to residents who were upset by the delayed response time as well as the damage done by the flooding water.
“All night long it poured. I think they should have sent somebody out here to work on it. We waited how many hours here?" said Sieber.
Neighbor Donna Doll said the pipe burst in front of her parents’ home and the water caused damage to the driveway.
"The water was coming out through the concrete and gushing down. I'm just worried about the concrete and if the driveway's going to sink," said Doll.
When nearby water authority crews arrived, they dug a large hole on Mount Troy Road to fix the broken pipe.
The township manager said crews couldn't be sent to fix the break sooner because of a shortage of manpower, but the township will pay for the damages caused by the break.
