NORTH CAROLINA —

Service members come up with creative ways to surprise their loved ones when they return home.

One North Carolina father decided to call in a masked crusader for help – dressing as Spiderman to surprise his son.

Sgt. Jason Reynolds has been in Afghanistan since September, but was granted emergency leave for the birth of his daughter.

It's a moment 3-year-old Noah has not forgotten.

"He surprised me.  Daddy, you surprised me,” Noah said.

"I know that he's been really missing me lately, so I wanted to do something a little bit more special for him,” Jason Reynolds said.

Reynolds didn't make it home in time for his daughter's birth, but he said he is happy to be with his family for another week.
