School van collides with students’ car on the North Side; 1 injured

PITTSBURGH —

A student was taken to an area hospital Friday morning after the car she was riding in collided with a school van on the North Side.

According to police, two girls were driving to school when they drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Bidwell Street and West North Avenue and the school van hit the car’s side.

Officials said the passenger in the car was taken to the hospital. Her name and condition have not been released.

“He had the right to go straight, but instead of paying attention to the stop sign, she was running straight ahead. Before you know it, there was a big bam!” witness Chester Kelly said.
