HAZELWOOD, Pa. —
Authorities said no injuries were reported after a group of kids found a gun in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood Monday afternoon and accidentally fired it once.
According to police, a group of kids between the ages of 7 and 11 were playing along Gloster Street when they found an old handgun about 3 p.m.
The gun fired once, but no one was injured.
Officials said adults heard the shot, went outside and immediately called police.
Police said they have identified the gun's owner, who is not from the Pittsburgh area. The gun was taken to a crime lab while officials work to determine how it ended up in the street.
Investigators said so far, there is no indication that the gun was stolen.
