PITTSBURGH -- Police are investigating after they said a robber tied up a bank employee before getting away with cash Friday morning in Spring Hill.
Investigators said the employee was getting ready to open ESB Bank on Rhine Street before 9 a.m. when the man somehow got into the building.
Emergency dispatch workers said the only employee was tied up while the man robbed the bank. Police said the man had a gun and covered his face with a hat and coat during the robbery.
According to police, the suspect is a white male, standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans, white shoes and carrying a cash bag.
Police said the man got away with an undetermined amount of cash.
Customers said they think the bank is an easy target.
"It's secluded and there's nobody around. The time of day they open…, there's mostly senior citizens down here," said one Spring Hill resident.
“I was going over to use the ATM and it was flashing, so I knew something was wrong with the bank at that point,” a bank customer said.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
