Most of the Channel 11 viewing area woke up to temperatures in the 60s Wednesday, but the warm up won't last long.
Within 24 hours time the area will go from spring-like weather back to winter.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday morning for many parts of the Channel 11 viewing area. WPXI Facebook said the storm moved quickly through several areas, with strong wind gusts and pounding rain.
Temperatures Wednesday will jump to near record highs before crashing through the afternoon and evening, Cropper said.
Cold air is expected to make its return by Wednesday night with rain changing to snow showers. A quick freeze of water on roadways and/or light snow may create slick spots for the Thursday morning commute.
A flood watch for counties east of Pittsburgh goes into effect Wednesday at 1 p.m. and is expected to remain in effect through Thursday morning.
