CHESWICK, Pa. —

Sources said an 8-year-old student pulled a knife on a classmate in a bathroom of an Allegheny Valley Elementary School Wednesday.

Channel 11's Alan Jennings reported that the student put the scissor portion of a multi-purpose knife to a classmate's throat and motioned to cut him. The victim was not hurt, Jennings reported.

Parents said school officials sent home a letter with students from Acmetonia Elementary School alerting them that a student brought a knife to school, but not that the knife was pulled on a student.

The letter also asked parents to review safety measures with their children.

Children and Youth Services was brought in to question the child.

Valley School District released a statement saying, “Upon receiving the info the appropriate district administrators were notified and the emergency management plan was enacted. An investigation into the matter was initiated.”
