Teen accused of punching K-9 officer after leading police on chase in stolen car

PITTSBURGH —

Police said they arrested two teenagers who were driving a stolen car Tuesday night and one of those teenagers is facing additional charges for punching a police K-9.

An officer said he noticed the teensĀ  in a carĀ  on Bigelow Boulevard that was reported stolen in a carjacking on Saturday.

When the officer turned on his emergency lights to stop the driver, police said the teens took off. Investigators said the officer and his K-9 chased the suspects to Polish Hill.

One teen was arrested without incident. The other is accused of assaulting the dog.

The animal was checked out and is OK.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for a minor injury.

Police are still working to determine who originally stole the car.
