On Thursday, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala announced their request to evict the tenants in a home in Pittsburgh’s Spring Garden neighborhood.
The two plan to secure the property on Constance Street following the city's response to nearly 100 calls at and around the property in recent years. Drug and nuisance activity has been reported there, police said.
The request was granted by Judge David Cashman.
"Today marks another big win for the Nuisance Property Task Force," said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. "By evicting the tenants of this property, we are removing the illegal and dangerous activity that has plagued this area, making the Spring Garden neighborhood safer for residents."
Since 2010, there has been a nearly 90 percent increase in criminal and nuisance activity at this property, as well as more than six search warrants executed.
