Police: Man leads officers on chase, tosses $13K in heroin on street
Police said what started as a traffic stop, turned into a police chase turned drug bust on Wednesday.
Officers said the incident began when they attempted to pull a driver over in North Side. Investigators said the driver then took off and eventually ditched the car -- which was reported stolen -- on Hazlett Street in Northview Heights.
Investigators said the man then took off on foot, but was caught shortly after.
Police said the man was tossing bricks of heroin as he tried to run away.
Detectives said the drugs would be worth about $13,000 in street value.
